How To Make Playdates a Hit

Playdates for toddlers are a two in one package. They are fun for the toddlers and help engage their social skills and also a "Mommy Break". It is a mom's time to have adult conversations with other moms. I absolutely love playdates.
My oldest, Ben, usually will get together 1-2 times a week to play with other toddlers and kids his age.

Here are some tips to make playdates a hit:

1. Plan Ahead- If the playdate is at your home, make sure you have everything( food, childproof whatever needs to be childproofed, toys that your child doesn't want anyone to play with or get broken.)

2. Have constant supervision- Do you think two toddlers won't get into any trouble? It is double the trouble with two or more!

3. Don't Over manage- Although you want to be near by, let them engage and play and enjoy learning together.

4.Plan around nap and feeding schedules- So important! Don't plan to have a playdate at 1PM if that is when your toddler goes down for a nap.

5. Seek out neutral territory- Have some playdates at the park, or a place like Chick-fila. Toddlers can be very territorial with their toys and home, so it is good to sometimes meet in a neutral location.

These are just a few tips to help beginning your playdates or to continue have hits! Ben loves when he is able to go and play with others his age, although he is at the age where he needs to learn to share and how to share, it is so great for him to get out and socialize!
