Be Thankful.

I absolutely love this time of year. I love spending special moments with my family and extended family and I love making those memories that I can always look back on. I am so thankful to be able to take pictures and see this pictures even months and years past the events. It truly is one of my favorite things to do.

So, since my oldest son is getting older (He turned four in October!!!) I am trying to explain more in a simple concept about the holidays and special days that come up. He is understanding quite a bit which I am so happy about!

A few weekends ago we took the boys on a nature walk at a park not too far from us. We picked out red leaves (because his color for school was red that week) and we hunted around for acorns, nuts, and some tiny twigs. Once we collected them I brought them home and we made a thankful tree with the acorns, nuts and twigs.

Ben loved helping me make the thankful tree and it was such a simple and fun process that is easy for any young age!

Once we put the tree together I bought some tiny tags from Walmart so that we could write on them what we are thankful for and our name on the back. My husband even thought it was a good idea and joined in!

I thought I would share with you all in case you were not sure how to explain Thanksgiving and about counting our blessings. This activity is inexpensive, fun and simple! Which is always the best kind of activity sometimes if you are stuck on what to do and want to get creative!

I noticed on Pinterest that there are some more elaborate thankful trees but mine is geared towards the kiddos so that is why it is simple!

I hope you have an awesome week and Happy Thanksgiving!
