"that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever."  Psalm 30:12

Today would be my Mom's 49th birthday. She definitely played an important/major part in my life and even though we weren't blood I feel I have picked up (hopefully!) some of her habits and qualities. She had such a kind spirit always willing to help and volunteer. She loved to host parties and having people over! Especially during the holidays.
Which is why I am sooo excited to be hosting my First Thanksgiving at my home. Even though I will be slightly cheating and not baking all of the main dishes, the only trait of my mom's I wish I had picked up and not my brothers! My brothers can both make some killer meals, I am lucky to not forget a main ingredient when baking :/ My poor hubby.

I definitely am working on the cooking skill though! I remember baking so much in November and December with my mom and brothers. She would be baking pies, homemade noodles, chili, bread, turkey, pancakes, and so much more. The fall/winter were definitely her favorite seasons and weather.

So even though this time of year is the hardest for me (especially as the boys get older) I hope to work each day on the qualities and character I saw her so often display to us as a mom and wife. She always was encouraging, making us laugh, giving us warm hugs and having patience with us when we frustrated her.

I am going to sing praises to Him during those days I feel defeated as a mom. Sing praises to Him when I feel sad.

So remember during this time of year to be grateful. Count your blessings and be thankful. Use those moments of frustration to teach a lesson. Use those moments of defeat to sing, out loud with worship music. I know I do:)

Happy Birthday Marmee! I hope you know how much I miss you and I hope you are singing praises right now.
