Simple Tips to Go Green at Home

This post is sponsored by REPREVE. Thank you to REPREVE for sponsoring today's discussion and for helping me spread the word about recycled fibers.

I never realized until the past few months how you can save money and go green at the same time by switching up how you run your home. Honest! I am going to share with you a few tips today that work and that I have put into effect in my own home and how you can do it too!

1. Buy Go Green cleaning products
I have been using Green Works! cleaning products for about 9 months now and I love them. They are just as effective with killing germs and leaving your counters, sinks and table sparkly clean without all the chemical odors surrounding you! Safe enough for your kiddos to help you clean with them also. You can also use Seventh Generation, Method, Mrs. Meyers(I use this for some of our hand soap), J.R. Watkins (love this one too!). You can also make your own

2. Go Paper Towel-less
It can be done, even with children. I finally made the switch about 4 months ago and don't regret it one bit! It is easy to do and saves money. Simply begin by going to Walmart or the Dollar store and stocking up on inexpensive rags and cloths. You can color coordinate (I do) and use blue for the bathroom, red for the kitchen and brown for misc or do however you want! I am working on figuring out how to not buy napkins now and do cloth napkins for the table when we eat. I love using my towels and rags for everything from wiping down dishes, cleaning the counters & cleaning the kiddos faces.

3. Buy recyclable bottled water
We buy bottle water in our home since our faucet water is not exactly that tasty. We have recently been buying Dasani water and if you recycle them they can be reused and made into backpacks, t-shirts, rugs, shoes and more! Did you know 6 water bottles makes this amazing hat?

These are just a few tips I have but I would love to hear yours!

Also for your pleasure is my cute 4 year old showing you how he helps in the home.

To celebrate the X Games, REPREVE invites participants to share how they "turn it green", or how they live a more sustainable life by recycling or reusing materials, by sharing an image or video on Twitter, Instagram or Vine with the #TurnItGreen hashtag.

Once you share the image or video with the hashtag, you will be entered into a sweepstakes where five entries will be randomly selected as the Top Five. Those five will be voted on by visitors to Repreve website where the image or video with the most votes will win a $5,000 cash prize. The other four video entries will receive a REPREVE Jacket and a Go-Pro camera (retail valued at over $350).
