Fresh Start: top 10 books in 2013
So if you follow me on instagram or goodreads (if we don't let's connect!) you have probably seen the many books I post that I currently am reading or have read.
In 2013 I read 45 books. Yep, it's true. Just ask my husband because he is the one funding my every growing mini library at home ;).
So, since I read so many I had to narrow down my top 10 favorites. So here they are! Enjoy and I hope you find some in this list and get to enjoy them.
1 Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
I am seriously a huge fan of the books and movies. They are fantastically written, compelling and they paint an amazing image and story that you will see unfold right in front of you. Plus, the movies totally rock, am I right?
2 Illusion by Frank Peretti
The plot of the story is definitely one that catches your eye as he spins a magical tale of suspense, mystery and love. Plus, if you haven't read his other books, go now and read those. I promise you won't regret it.
3 One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp
Ann is an amazing writer and creator of words. She is poetic and instantly you will fall in love with this book and mission to live fully right where you are. She invites you to embrace everyday blessings and trials and find the gratitude to document God's gifts all around you.
4 Mud, Sweat and Tears by Bear Grylls
My family and I have always loved watching Bear Grylls on Man vs. Wild and now you can read his autobiography and the true tales of how and where his adventures began. He truly is inspiring and his passion for life is contagious. Honest, totally a must read.
5 What a difference a Mom makes by Kevin Leman
I have always loved Kevin Leman and have read every single one of his books. His sense of humor and wisdom in raising kids, your marriage and more is always thought provoking. This book is for every mom who has a son. It shows you, as a Mom, how to lay the groundwork that will allow your son to grow into a good man. Moms honestly do make a huge difference in their sons lives.
6 American Heiress by Daisy Goodwin
I love this book so much and even gifted it to a friend for Christmas. It honestly is a beautiful story and captures you on every page. If you love Downton Abbey you will like this book.
7 Start by Jon Acuff
Do you need a kick in the pants to start what you have always dreamed of? Then read this. Honest, this book is inspiring and is a huge boost to start what you dream or what you fear you might not succeed in. He is a dream encourager, hope maker and Jon is witty and shows you opportunities all around you.
8 The Living Room by Robert Whitlow
What would you do if the dream you had last night came true today? That is what is happening to Amy Clarke in this intriguing novel. I couldn't put it down and it totally kept me awake reading late at night. I love this author's books and have read every single one of his. This latest one is definitely a suspenseful and "can not put down" kind of book.
9 The Outcast by Jolina Petersheim
This is a modern retelling of Scarlett Letter and it is honestly so well written. I love Amish/Mennonite novels and this one is definitely one I would read again. I couldn't put this book down and it covers all of the suspense, love, redemption, sacrifice you would want in a novel.
10 Save Me by Lisa Scottoline
This is an emotionally powerful story about what happens when split second choices brings unforgettable consequences. I loved this book and it definitely left me with tears in parts of it. Truly a book that you will not want to put down.
Whew! It is SO hard picking just 10 because I normally fall in love with all the books I read. After so many years of reading I honestly know how to pick a good book now and finish it.
I would love to know what you read in 2013 and what you are reading now!
