the good news about marriage- Book Review

I have been doing quite a bit of reading this summer. I love to read my good share of fiction books and if you follow me on Goodreads  you probably already knew that ;).

A book I saw recently while browsing the bookstore and online was a new one by another author I am familiar with. The book is called the good news about marriage by Shaunti Feldhahn. You might recognize her name from the best selling book For Women Only. I thoroughly enjoyed that book and decided to give this one a try.

The title and sub title are definitely ones to catch your eye.

I gave this book 3 stars on my Goodreads because although I agree that there are discouraging myths about marriage and even divorce, Shaunti doesn't fully address where we should go with these statistics and data about marriages. It seems to be mainly a book of data and charts.

It is encouraging to read that the divorce rate has never gotten close to 50 percent and that most remarriages succeed since you usually hear that they don't.

I would recommend this book to be looked at as encouragement to debunk the myths we are told about marriage and enjoy the research put into finding the good news about marriage (especially the small things) since so often we hear only bad news about marriage.

I received a copy of this book for review from Blogging for Books. These words are all my own.
